As part of our Net Gain program, GoodPayer.com and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame provide unique incentives to participating students, including special financial literacy rallies, tickets to NBA and WNBA games, field trips to the Hall of Fame, and special appearances by Basketball Hall of Famers speaking on the importance of financial planning.

The rallies are friendly, spirited competitions. Students are divided among four teams as they arrive at the arena. Members of each team compete against each other for a variety of prizes, including trips to the “GoodPayer.com Money Ball.”

Welcome
After the audience has been seated, a GoodPayer.com representative welcomes them to the rally and provides some opening comments about the importance of financial literacy.

Basketball Personality Video
A brief video spotlights former professional basketball players who were successful on the court and in their own financial lives.

Guest Speaker
Each rally features a different speaker from the world of basketball. These speakers will provide their own unique perspective as to how the sport and their own decisions shaped their financial life.

Trivia Challenge
One representative from each team will participate in five rounds of a financial trivia game. Utilizing a game show set, students buzz-in when they know a correct answer. For every correct response, the players accumulate points for their team and an opportunity to enter the “GoodPayer.com Money Ball.” Those who do not get a chance at the “Money Ball” receive a Goodpayer.com calculator.

Basketball Challenge
A representative from each team will participate in this round, which consists of financial true/false questions. If the player answers a question correctly, they win an opportunity to shoot a free-throw. If they make the free-throw, the players accumulate points for their team and an opportunity to enter the “GoodPayer.com Money Ball.” Those who do not get a chance at the “Money Ball” receive a Goodpayer.com calculator.

Financial Feud
Two representatives from each team will compete in the Financial Feud. The students will be asked a question and have to provide the top 3 responses. CROWD INTERACTION IS ENCOURAGED as each team attempts to provide answers to its representatives. If they can provide all three answers, the team will earn 5 points. However, if they cannot, another team has the chance to steal the points. For every correct response, the players accumulate points for their team and an opportunity to enter the “GoodPayer.com Money Ball.” Those who do not get a chance at the “Money Ball” receives a Goodpayer.com calculator.

Money Ball
The Money Ball is filled with $5 savings bond vouchers. Winners from each challenge are rewarded with thirty seconds inside the “Money Ball,” where they can attempt to grab as many vouchers as they can. These are exchanged for an equivalent savings bond.

Team Victory
The team that scores the most points receives “Learn Now or Pay Later” money clips. Everyone in attendance receives a Net Gain t-shirt and tickets for that day’s game.

Coming Soon: Virtual General Manager
Virtual General Manager is an on-line game that will be available on the GoodPayer.com website. Students will be given a pre-determined amount of money to work with so they can assemble and manage their own basketball team. At the conclusion of the season, the student who has managed his/her team to the highest score and the most profit wins a prize. The prize will serve as motivation for the students to continue learning and following the curriculum. Virtual General Manager will also serve as a way to monitor the students’ involvement and further enhance the long-standing connection between the students, GoodPayer.com and the Basketball Hall of Fame.
