Future Works is a Massachusetts One-Stop Career Center, governed
by the Division of Career Services. The DCS manages a range of programs
related to employment, training and workforce development. The DCS
oversees the Commonwealth's network of One-Stop Career Centers, which
assist businesses in finding qualified workers and provide job seekers
with career guidance, job training and referral services.
CRT
The Community Renewal Team Inc. is an anti-poverty agency serving
people and families throughout the Connecticut River Valley. A wide
array of CRT programs, including Head Start, Meals on Wheels, alternatives
to incarceration programs, and supportive housing and shelter organizations,
give people the skills and the resources to become self-sufficient
and to thrive.
College Bowling USA
College Bowling USA creates
collegiate bowling opportunities to enhance the academic, athletic
and personal development of thousands

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
The Naismith Memorial
Basketball Hall of Fame is dedicated to promoting an appreciation
of the historical development of the game of basketball
and the contributions of its participants to American society and
culture. Through its educational offerings, the Basketball
Hall of Fame seeks a partnership with the larger community that will
foster a spirited enthusiasm for life-long learning and civic participation. This
has led to the creation of the Basketball Hall of Fame Money Management
Workshops, presented by Goodpayer.com. These monthly workshops
use real examples from the lives of professional athletes to teach
high school juniors and seniors about the proper management of credit
and debt. To date, more than 24 high schools from three states
have attended our workshops.
Enfield Public Schools (CT)
We hosted a Career Day
for students of the Enfield school system who will be going directly
into the workforce after graduation. Students
had the opportunity to observe several departments within our organization
and witness the various functions they perform. Each student
also had the opportunity to go through the interview process and
receive feedback on their performance.
Boston Connects Inc.
In January 1999, Boston
was designated an Empowerment Zone (EZ) by HUD. The Empowerment
Zone designation carries a $100 million dollar
award over a 10-year period ($10 million per year) and serves the
same geographic area as the EEC. The goal of the EZ is to generate
economic self-sufficiency for individuals, families, and communities
through job creation and human development.
Hampden
County Sheriff’s Department
Along with its many other
duties, the Hampden County Deputy Sheriffs provide educational
and reintegration programs and services to inmates
in anticipation of their return to society. GED preparation,
computer literacy, and post-secondary educational opportunities are
among their more popular programs. GoodPayer.com has been pleased
to add our financial literacy seminars to the list of options available
for these individuals.
Springfield College
Springfield College was first located on the second floor of the
Armory Hill YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts. Just a few years
after opening its doors to the first eighteen students in 1885, Springfield
College could boast an international reputation as a pioneer in teaching
and scholarship related to physical education, wellness, and the
training of YMCA executives. Today, with an undergraduate and graduate
enrollment of more than 5,000 students, Springfield College continues
to develop young men and women dedicated to leadership in the service
of others.

The mission of the Springfield Public Schools is to provide all
students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, discipline,
skills, and abilities necessary to reach their potential, adapt to
continuing change and contribute positively to society.
Shriver Job Corps
Job Corps is the nation's
largest and most comprehensive residential, education and job training
program for at-risk youth, ages 16 through
24. Since its inception in 1964 as part of the Economic Opportunity
Act, Job Corps has provided more than 2 million disadvantaged young
people with the integrated academic, vocational, and social skills
training they need to gain independence and get quality, long-term
jobs or further their education. Today, Job Corps continues
to serve nearly 70,000 students a year at 118 Job Corps centers throughout
the country.

Smithtown
High School’s first annual “Financial Literacy
Day” where 150 high school juniors learned the importance of
money management over 6 classes through the following discussion
topics:

• Credit Cards and Their Pitfalls
• Credit Rating’s
• Identity Theft
Smithtown School District
Goodpayer
staff members have recently been appointed to the Smithtown School
District,
Industry Advisory Board. Up coming projects include
a “Financial Literacy Program” for the 2004/2005 school
year and the Goodpayer staff will be proctoring weekly workshops
as part of this new curriculum. Plans also include co-chair the 2nd
annual “Financial Literacy Day” in the upcoming school
year.
Robert Frost Middle School
Members
of the GoodPayer staff attended Robert Frost Middle School’s “I
Would Like To Be” Career Day. Twenty-five eighth grade students
were visited and discussed the importance of sound money management
decisions throughout a 42-minute class.
Deer Park High School
Deer
Park High School’s The Future Begins….” Career
Day. Our office was visited by ten high school juniors and presented
our “Learn Now or Pay Later” Young Adult Curriculum and
also discussed our mission of education during a 42-minute class.
We re-visited these same students to further discuss “Handling
Your Own Finances,” and “Staying Out of Credit Card Debt”
Deer Park School District
Goodpayer
staff members have recently been appointed to the Deer Park School
District’s,
Industry Advisory Board. We are also actively involved with the
Business Departments for the 2004/2005
school year.
Southampton Intermediate School
The GoodPayer staff attended the Southampton Intermediate School
Career Fair where we were visited by roughly four hundred fifth through
eighth grade students. Our mission was to raise awareness on the
importance of money management, budgeting and savings.
Long
Island Works Coalition
The
Long Island Works Coalition is Long Island's first comprehensive
effort to forge collaborative working relationships between employers
and the educational community. It is an inclusive coalition that
brings together business people, government officials, educators
on all levels, parents, and students.
